Supermacism
The word supremacism stems from word “Superior”. – SUPERIORNESS . Probably it started in ecclesiastical dictionary, like in – “Mother Superior”
The word “Superior” can mean,
- Something above ( dorsal, upper )
- Higher in rank ( like in army )
- Greater in quantity ( numbers )
- Excellent in “its” kind ( better ) ( Here in this essay we are elaborating on this “its”…)
“It” is a noun and denotes an object, a thing. The word “Superior” can be freely used as an adjective on a thing or object. But it was never intended to be directed to “the human”. If a human being is being angled with the meaning of the word Superior compared to other humans, one is bound to become supercilious. This leads to arrogant, chesty, haughty, huffy, presuming proud human. That is “SUPREMACISM”
What is Supremacism?
Supremacism is an ideology which holds that a certain class of people is superior to others, and that they should dominate, control, subjugate, and can eliminate others, or at least entitled to do so. A person who believes this ideology is a SUPREMACIST.
Is Supremacism Right?
Maybe the word “superior” can be used to elaborate a particular habit / talent / style in human… and to compare it to another’s talent, style it can be allowed. But This trait cannot be endowed on any human, in wholesome manner. If this trait is endowed on the wholesome person / set of people / class of people, then this will automatically demote another person / set / class of people. There is also a Negative Spike to this. Once the attribute of superiorness gets into a person, there is automatically inferiorness attributed to another human. This stems up machoism, class hatred and terrorism. If this trait leaves humans, then Humaneness will flourish. So Supremacism is Wrong
Human Supremacism exist because of Ethnocentric ideology which is to believe that the values and standards of one’s own culture, language, behavior, customs, and religion are superior than some others. It is much more than parochialism. “Ethnocentrism” creates and widens the gap between so called self higher valued individuals and Lower valued ones. This is not right, But Wrong.
“Basic humaneness of a person is not to lord SUPERIORNESS over other humans. This is for the betterment of Human Race.”
Did Supermacism evolve ?
- Around 400 BC Plato suggested Eugenics, A science which deals with improving the human species by selectively choosing people with specific desirable hereditary traits. It aims to reduce human suffering by “breeding out” disease, deformities and undesireale charecters… A superior Human
- In 1599 AD William Shakespeare in his “ Merchant of Venice portrays an intense disagreement between the Jewish character Shylock and the Christian character Antonio. Antonio constantly scorns Shylock for being a Jew, which ultimately culminates in one of the most famous speeches of all time where Shylock asks: “If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?” The “us” that Shylock is referring to are the Jewish people.
With Shylock’s speech, Shakespeare tells us that this ethnocentrism is a powerful force that weakens human relations. Humans despite their cultural differences, are all still human. There’s no humane difference between a Jew and a Christian, a black and a white, a Chinese and an American, and so on.
- In 1950s Clive Staples Lewis points out that using scientific knowledge, Governments and Corporations can alter the planetary equiblirium of nature to create an environment for future generations ( Eugenics ). The final stage of this process will be to alter the human species itself. TO create a Super Human.
If the purpose of ideas of CS Lewis to create super human species so that they subjugate the non super humans, and the purpose of Eugenics is to extinct a non super human race, then these ideologies and plans are definitely wrong.
- Today the sciences of bio-engineering and artificial intelligence promise to remake humans and to create superior versions of themselves. Raymond Kurzweil who is presently with google, states that humans in future will be a hybrid of biological and non-biological intelligence that becomes increasingly dominated by its non-biological component. A superior Human or Super Human. Elon Musk’s Neura Link aims to create symbiosis of humans and AI so that humans become super humans.
- Super influential Oligarchs : Countries that are democracies have oligarchs controlling their governments. And these wealthy oligarchs influence policies and operations of the government. This increases the financial inequality. so that the supremacy of power is retained by the oligarchs.
- Casteism, ( social stratification characterized by endogamy,) which is ideology of the Sanskriti Rig Veda, with its Varna and Asharma, gives the right on doing certain jobs only based on castes of people. Any conjugal, familial, social, professional intermingling is strictly disallowed and supremacism steps in, to instigate violence and even death penalty if the rule of a particular caste is not followed.
- Jews are unitary racial. Ashkenazi Jews are intellectually superior by selective inbreeding. They statistically achieve most number of Nobel Prices. Since world acclaims them with this honour, they take proof, privilege and pride to become a supremacist. Financier Felix Rohatyn, who is a Polish Jew, says“ I’ve had the feeling that the only permanent wealth is what you carry around in your head.” Jews, from their birth attribute all their time and skills to acquire this mental wealth and so they attain and retain Knowledge Supremacy.
- In his book, “The Rich in Public Opinion” Rainer Zitelmann argues that, German public has a negative picture of the super rich and the rich and they wrongly attribute negative traits like, Selfishness, Ruthlessness, Cold hardheartedness and Greed – only targeting the rich. Dr. Zitelmann argues that these are negative prejudices, fuelled by socialists and resulting in hatred crimes. True ?…. But, not true
If Dr. Zitelmann had taken opinions, statistics, balance sheets from the super rich and their corporations of what they had done to the public, It will be agreeing with the opinions from the public, of how ruthless and cruel the super rich are; and they have to be, in order to maintain their SUPERIORNESS in FINANCE.
Conclusion:
When some supremacist executes ideas either through technology or bureaucracy to keep the others in abeyance, below them as inferiors, it creates a scenario in which the supremacist are ideologically correct and the others below them are on wrong. This widens the gap further. Supremacist’s technique in itself is not wrong, But the motive behind that is wrong. This superior thinking exists within a group of people. The Supermacist’s purpose is to always have a platform, be it Religion, Technology, Money, Knowledge, – A platform where their superiority is maintained and retained in such a way that the others (inferiors) will have no chance of nearing or attaining it.
Supremacism is a Human Nature. – A nature we do not want in a matured civilized culture. It creates unnecessary ego, anger, fights, wars and inequality. All these are not needed for Human life on this planet. All of us have enough and more of space on this earth.
Being Superior is not wrong, But Keeping and distancing others to be Inferior is WRONG.
